B2B Utilities & M&E Contractor

Utilities, M&E and building services

Mechanical and electrical services installation with ductwork and cable trays in a commercial building
The Result

Commercial pipeline built

A contractor reliant on a handful of long-standing relationships built a repeatable route to new commercial work.

The Brief

The Brief

A B2B contractor delivering utilities connections and mechanical and electrical installation worked almost entirely for a small number of long-standing clients. Turnover was reliable until it wasn't — one framework ending would have taken a significant share of the year's workload with it.

There was no inbound channel to speak of. The website existed to confirm the company was real, not to win anything, and nobody could say where enquiries came from or what happened to them once received.

The brief was commercial risk reduction: build a credible route to new main contractor and client-side relationships, and put a system behind the enquiries it generated.

Objectives

What we set out to do

01

Reduce Client Concentration

Create an inbound route to work beyond the existing framework relationships.

02

Build Tender Credibility

Present accreditations, capability and delivery history the way buyers assess them.

03

Track Every Enquiry

Put a CRM behind enquiries so nothing sits in an inbox unanswered.

Approach

The Strategy

In B2B utilities and M&E, the buyer is a commercial manager or main contractor doing due diligence, often mid-tender. They are checking accreditation, sector experience and whether you have delivered something comparable. The site was rebuilt to answer exactly that, quickly and without marketing language.

Capability was structured by service and sector rather than by internal department, with delivery history presented as evidence rather than boasting. Accreditations and compliance information were made easy to find because that is frequently the deciding factor at the shortlist stage.

Search work targeted the specific, unglamorous terms commercial buyers use — service plus sector plus region — rather than broad industry keywords with no buying intent behind them.

A CRM was introduced alongside it so every enquiry is logged, owned and followed up, giving the directors visibility of the pipeline for the first time rather than an inbox and a memory.

CRM workflow

The Results

Commercial pipeline
Inbound route established beyond existing frameworks
CRM tracked
Every enquiry logged, owned and followed up
Tender ready
Accreditation and capability evidence made buyer-accessible
So what?

The Outcome

The contractor is no longer one framework decision away from a difficult year. New commercial relationships now begin without an introduction, and the leadership team can see the pipeline rather than infer it — which changes how confidently they can bid, resource and invest.

Campaign Highlights
