Heritage Engineering Division Of An Engineering Practice

Heritage & structural engineering

Historic stone building under heritage restoration with scaffolding and masonry repairs
The Result

Division growth supported

A specialist heritage division was given the visibility and evidence it needed to win contractor-led work.

The Brief

The Brief

An engineering practice had built genuine expertise in heritage work — listed buildings, historic masonry, sensitive structural interventions — but that specialism was invisible online, buried inside a general services page.

Heritage schemes are commissioned by contractors, conservation architects and property owners who search in very specific ways, usually by building type and location. None of that language existed on the site.

The brief was to strengthen the heritage division commercially: make the expertise findable, evidence it properly, and support business development with material the team could actually use.

Objectives

What we set out to do

01

Make The Specialism Visible

Give heritage engineering its own presence rather than a line on a services page.

02

Evidence The Expertise

Publish technical heritage case studies that stand up to conservation scrutiny.

03

Support Business Development

Give the team campaigns and collateral to open contractor conversations.

Approach

The Strategy

Working closely with the leadership team, the website was redesigned with the heritage division given proper prominence and a structure that reflects how conservation work is actually procured.

Location-specific landing pages were built around the building types and areas where heritage work concentrates, targeting low-volume, high-intent searches competitors ignore.

Heritage case studies were produced from the engineers' own site photography, written around structural constraint, conservation sensitivity and the solution delivered — evidence a conservation officer or contractor takes seriously.

Email campaigns, newsletters and social activity repurposed the same material to keep the division in front of contractors and SME construction firms between projects, with the in-house reporting system integrated to keep content flowing.

So what?

The Outcome

The heritage division reads as a specialism rather than a sideline. Contractors and conservation professionals can find it, assess it and see comparable work, and the practice has an ongoing content and email programme keeping it visible between commissions.
